Dr Asha Short

Asha completed an undergraduate Bachelor of Health Science at Adelaide University before graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Flinders University in 2007. Throughout her study, she was always fascinated by women’s health – eventually leading to specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as a natural next step.

Her advanced training focused on high risk medical conditions in pregnancy and advanced laparoscopy, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy and endometriosis. In 2017, Asha was granted her fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).

Passionate about caring for young girls and teenagers, Asha undertook further specialist training in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology at The Royal Hospital for Women and Sydney Children’s Hospital, before spending two months at The University College Hospital London – based in the specialised paediatric and adolescent gynaecology service.

Today, Asha is a staff specialist at The Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she is the principal gynaecologist across the paediatric and adolescent gynaecology service.

Her special interests include:

• General and high-risk obstetrics
• Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology
• Pre-pregnancy planning, miscarriage and sub-fertility investigation
• Pelvic pain and endometriosis surgery
• Advanced laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive hysterectomy
• Abnormal bleeding, PCOS, ovarian cyst management
• Abnormal cervical screening and colposcopy

When not at work Asha will be found either at pilates or enjoying artisan gin with her friends. She loves to travel, finding any excuse to fly off to a place she's yet to explore.
